Techniques We Use
Chiropractic Manipulation
We use chiropractic manipulation to facilitate better movement in a joint. When a joint becomes restricted or stuck, other areas must pick up the slack of that joint leading to excessive or unstable motion. If you choose not to be manipulated, we can also do joint mobilization. Joint mobilization is a gentle technique that does not result in a cavitation (cracking noise) but can achieve similar results.

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)
DNS gives us an ideal movement strategy that we can strive for. DNS is modeled on the development of babies from 0 days of life to 3 years old. We are not taught how to turn, crawl, or walk; these patterns are already programmed into us as humans. After years of school, work, and life, we sometimes lose these ideal patterns. With specific training, we can begin to bring back our ideal stereotypes to improve not only pain but our movement literacy. Dr. Kopp is one of the few chiropractors certified in DNS within the state of Michigan.

MDT- McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy®

MDT is an assessment and treatment method that we use to find the specific exercises that will provide you the most benefit. As part of MDT, we also educate you about your condition and how it should be responding to the specific exercises. This education will, in turn, help you to continue your treatment independently.

Manual Therapy
We use many different techniques to help you get out of pain and return to normal or better functioning. The specific technique we use will be based on the unique presentation of your condition. Many times, we will use a combination of techniques to give you the best possible outcomes. Most of these techniques are performed by the physician; however you may be given manual therapies to perform as at-home exercises.

Functional Rehabilitation

Optimal body function is different for everyone, whether you like to garden or lift weights. The doctors at Kalamazoo Chiropractic & Rehabilitation can find an exercise to improve your movement and strength in the real world. This improved performance will help decrease the chances of reinjury while also giving you the freedom to live life to the fullest.
